Abstract:
According to foreign media reports, ByteDance has received a US$29.6 billion loan, which is the second largest US dollar loan in Asia this year. The report quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that ByteDance initially planned to raise US$20 billion, but after receiving oversubscription intentions from banks, ByteDance increased the loan size. The funds raised this time will be mainly used for general corporate operating purposes. The deal has not yet been formally signed and each bank is still confirming its share, people familiar with the matter said.

Reports indicate that ByteDance is considering increasing this year’s capital expenditure to as much as US$70 billion, doubling last year’s total, to expand data centers and other AI infrastructure.
The report also mentioned that among Asian dollar loan transactions in 2026, the only one currently larger than ByteDance’s financing is the US$40 billion bridge loan signed by SoftBank Group in March this year.
ByteDance has not responded yet.
