On September 14, according to Bloomberg,
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman issued a message on Sunday expressing his support for the concept of "controlling" the development speed of AI to prevent cutting-edge models from exceeding human control capabilities
. Altman echoed Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s statement. Shifting the focus to security will come at a cost, but it will be worth it to maintain confidence in U.S. companies to responsibly develop increasingly powerful AI, he said.

Altman reiterated that OpenAI supports the establishment of a federal-level AI regulatory framework. He also said that AI companies need Washington to help promote international coordination.

. Altman told OpenAI employees earlier this month that the company was willing to slow down its progress on cutting-edge technologies to better understand the risks involved. He also confirmed that the company will not go public in 2026 and will prioritize safety-related concerns.Asian AI-related stocks fell on Monday. Shares of SoftBank Group, OpenAI's main investor, fell 13% in Tokyo, and South Korea's Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix both fell more than 4% in Seoul.
