Abstract:

On Wednesday local time, as gasoline and diesel prices continued to remain high in the United States, senior Senator Bernie Sanders lashed out at U.S. President Trump. Previously, Trump boasted about the $5,000 burgers served at his private residence, Mar-a-Lago, in Florida.

Sanders retweeted a post on social media platform

Sanders pointed out that during the Trump administration, U.S. diesel prices increased by 72%, gasoline prices soared by 53%, and beef prices also increased by 17%.

"What message is Trump sending to working-class people? 'If you can't afford groceries, why not go to Mar-a-Lago and try a $5,000 burger,'" Sanders said, adding: "This shows how out of touch this guy is with reality."

The national average price of gasoline was $4.2471 per gallon on Wednesday, down slightly from Tuesday's level of $4.2661 per gallon, according to AAA. The national average price of diesel fuel is $6.3499 per gallon, down 0.22 cents from Tuesday’s level of $6.3521 per gallon.

At the same rally in Texas, Trump said the United States had received a shipment of oil from Venezuela totaling 1 million barrels. He also added that the U.S.’s oil supply is so large that it rivals that of several countries combined.

In addition, Trump also said that Venezuela may become the 51st state of the United States in the future, and said that the country may even hold a gubernatorial election in the future.
