US certification data shows that the revised model number of Switch 2 is the same as the European replaceable battery version

📅 2026-10-10

Abstract:

In the US Federal Communications Commission's certification information on October 8, a Nintendo Switch 2 related device with the model number "BEE-001(-01)" appeared. This number is the same as the revised version of the European battery-replaceable console, but Nintendo has not yet announced plans for this version to be released in the United States.

The US certification data shows a revised model of Switch 2, which is the same number as the European replaceable battery version

The current model of the Switch 2 console is "BEE-001". Nintendo previously announced that in order to adapt to Europe's new battery regulations, it will gradually change the Switch 2 console and some controllers sold locally to versions with user-replaceable batteries. The scope of application of this announcement is limited to the regions where Nintendo of Europe operates.

In terms of controllers, data from the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications show that the design certification of the GameCube controller "BEE-021" for Switch 2 was revised on September 10, and "BEE-021(-01)" was added to the model. The Nintendo 64 controller for Switch also has a new number with the "(-01)" suffix in the Canadian certification information.

These suffixes are similar to the form of modified host models, but the specific changes to the controller cannot be confirmed based on the number alone. The replaceable battery versions of the two controllers are not expected to be launched in Europe until early 2027. Nintendo has not yet announced plans to launch the replaceable battery version of Switch 2 in Japan, and the product form and regional arrangements for the relevant models have yet to be confirmed.
