Apple executives Tim Cook and Greg Joswiak welcomed the first iPhone 15 buyers at the Fifth Avenue store in New York. As the iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 go on sale, large crowds have gathered in Apple stores around the world. According to reports, some people started queuing at the flagship store on New York's Fifth Avenue at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.
According to CNBC, at 10 a.m., Apple CEO Tim Cook and Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Greg Joswiak opened the store together, and they gained a lot. Their appearance was not publicized in advance, but Cook appeared at the iPhone 14 launch in 2022 and the iPhone 11 launch in 2019.
As the two men walked up from the basement level of the store, the crowd burst into applause. Joswiak was the more energetic cheerleader of the crowd, while Cook started with his familiar hands-me-up gesture.
The door on Joswiak's side of the Fifth Avenue entrance opened, but the door on Cook's side remained locked, and after a brief moment the pair stepped out to greet customers.
The line to get in immediately rushed to Tim Cook, who actually slowed down the line by stopping to talk to customers and take photos.
While Cook and Joswick were in New York, retail chief Deirdre O'Brien was in Australia at Apple's Sydney store, one of the first to start selling the new iPhones.
