According to news on September 23, according to British media reports, India tried to contact the lunar lander and lunar rover, but has not received any signals so far.On September 2, local time, the "Prajyan" lunar rover carried by India's "Chandrayaan-3" probe completed its exploration mission and entered sleep mode after turning off the payload.
Nighttime temperatures near the moon's south pole typically drop to minus 200 degrees Celsius to minus 250 degrees Celsius, and batteries are not designed to operate or be stored in such extreme temperatures. Some experts pointed out that due to the limited design level of the lunar rover, the probability of successful awakening may not be high.
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) also announced in advance, "I hope we can wake up the lunar rover, otherwise it will stay there forever as India's 'lunar ambassador'."
India's "Chandrayaan-3" was launched on July 14, carrying a lunar lander and lunar exploration rover. On the 23rd of this month, the lander carried by "Chandrayaan-3" achieved a soft landing at the south pole of the moon. India thus became the fourth country to land a probe on the moon after the Soviet Union, the United States and China.
This is the third time that India has launched a probe to land on the moon. In 2008, India successfully launched its first lunar probe, "Chandrayaan-1". However, "Chandrayaan-1", which was originally planned to operate for two years, lost contact in August 2009. In July 2019, India launched the "Chandrayaan-2" probe. In September of that year, its lander lost contact while trying to soft-land on the lunar surface. Relevant parties admitted in November that the lander had crashed.
