MSI has released the HeraldBENCM865, a PCIe wireless network adapter that provides Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity in the form of a convenient built-in expansion card. It has PCI-Expressx1 and USB2.0 host interfaces. In addition to installing the card on the PCIe slot, you also need to connect it to the vacant USB2.0 port on the motherboard with the included cable so that the Bluetooth component can work properly.
There are two antenna jacks, USB2.0 interface and an M.2E-key slot on the expansion card, which contains the actual WLAN module. The WLAN module responsible for this card is Qualcomm NCM865. It offers Wi-Fi7 (IEEE802.11be) with a maximum throughput of 5.8Gbps.
The controller supports 320MHz wide channels in the 6GHz, 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands, and on the 2.4GHz band it supports older Wi-Fi standards down to 802.11n.
Its Bluetooth component supports the latest Bluetooth 5.4 standard. The controller supports multi-link operating topologies. It also comes with a magnetized base antenna module, which is also available on some of MSI's high-end motherboards. The company hasn't announced pricing information.
