14-year-old Jose Bolanos was found at the Apple Brickell City Center store. The teenager, described as having autism, went missing from his home in Miami-Dade County for 24 hours before being found at Apple's Brickell Town Center store. According to CBS Miami, police issued flyers and even sent an iOS emergency notification asking for help finding the boy, and a citizen recognized him in the store.
Bolanos told CBS Miami: "I was looking for my lost phone and it...was lost a few days ago. . His iPhone was reportedly lost at school, but Bolanos was worried about his iCloud data. "
"I went to a nearby subway station," he continued. "Yeah, I went to the subway station and then I tried to find the nearest Apple store because I needed to fix my iCloud."
Bolanos disappeared on Friday, September 8, 2023, when he told his mother he was going to take out the trash. A shaky video shot by a neighbor shows Bolanos leaving the home.
Subsequently, he seemed to go directly to the Apple store, but the specific details are unclear. Bolanos reportedly visited the Apple Store on Friday, but he did not plan to tell police where he spent the night before returning to the store on Saturday.
The Apple Brickell City Center store is one of four Apple stores in Miami. It is expected that the fifth Apple store in Miami Worldcenter will also join the ranks of Apple stores, which will become Apple's largest retail store in the world.
