Kioxia Corporation today announced the launch of new high-performance embedded flash product samples compliant with the JEDECe-MMCVer.5.1 standard, mainly for consumer applications. The new product integrates the company's latest version of BiCSFLASH 3D flash memory and controller in a single package, reducing processor workload and improving ease of use. Products will be available in 64 and 128 gigabyte (GB) sizes.

As the market continues to shift toward UFS, e-MMC may still be used in some cases. This includes consumer products with mid-range storage needs such as tablets, PCs, point-of-sale devices and other portable handheld devices, as well as smart TVs and smart network cards.

The new Kioxia devices offer approximately 2.5x improvement in sequential and random write performance and approximately 2.7x improvement in random read performance compared to the previous generation device. Furthermore, the TBW[5] is improved by about 3.3 times compared to the previous generation device, which is consistent with the enhanced area setting of the entire e-MMC area.

Kioxia is currently conducting sample testing of its next-generation e-MMC device, with mass production expected in spring 2024.
