According to Teslarati, a website that tracks Tesla news, Tesla has applied for a permit to build a quite spacious cafeteria on the campus of its Austin Gigafactory to cater for the dining needs of tens of thousands of employees at the factory. The cafeteria seems to be inspired by the company's electric pickup truck Cybertruck.

The project is called the CyberCafeteria, according to a document Tesla filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The project has an estimated cost of $10.5 million and will involve some renovation and remodeling work. This indicates that the network cafeteria will replace the existing employee cafeteria on the Austin campus.

The "Cyber Buffet" will have 22,639 square feet (approximately 2,100 square meters) of space. The project is expected to start on October 25 this year and be completed on May 1, 2024. It is expected that by the time the Cyber Cafeteria is completed, Cybertruck production will likely be in full swing.

Tesla expects to hold the Cybertruck's first delivery event in the fourth quarter of this year. After that, production of the electric pickup is likely to steadily increase until mass production. Musk recently shared his estimates for the Cybertruck's production ramp, suggesting the vehicle could be in mass production by 2024.

Jason Sean, production director of Tesla's Austin factory, recently revealed that the factory currently has more than 20,000 employees and is expected to have a maximum of 60,000 employees by the time the Cybertruck begins mass production.
