There were previous rumors that AMD would launch the Ryzen Threadripper PRO7000 processor on October 19. Now the latest news is that in addition to launching a new generation of Ryzen Threadripper PRO7000 on October 19, they will also bring Radeon RX7900M mobile graphics card.

The source of the news is wccftech. Currently, AMD’s RDNA3 architecture GPUs on the mobile side are actually based on various variants of Navi33. RadeonRX7700/7600 all use this GPU, which is mainly aimed at entry-level and mainstream markets. This GPU It has up to 32 sets of CUs and a total of 2048 SPs. In terms of specifications, it is closer to the RTX4050/4060 using AD107, but its opponent's GPU is more popular in the notebook market. AMD does not seem to have made any moves to expand the notebook market some time ago.
Judging from the scale of AMD's GPU generation, Navi32 with up to 60 CUs seems more suitable for the notebook market, but AMD has chosen a larger one. It is said that RX7900M has 72 CUs with a total of 4608 SPs. This is obviously impossible to be based on Navi32, and can only be a larger Nav i31, this core specification is 20% more than the desktop RX7800XT and 10% less than the RX7900GRE. It has 4 MCDs, which means it has a 256-bit video memory width and is equipped with 16GB of video memory, which makes it comparable to the opponent's top RTX4090 notebook GPU in terms of video memory.
Due to the reduction in size, the TGP of the RX7900M will be lower than the desktop version. It is said that the TGP of the graphics card is 160W, which can be increased to 200W through SmartShift technology. Of course, the frequency will definitely be much lower than the desktop version, and the maximum dynamic frequency may be lower than 2.0GHz.
Judging from the product naming, there should be two more models between RX7900M and RX7700S. This is most likely reserved for Navi32GPU. I don’t know when AMD will bring it out.
