Chinese display manufacturer BOE was previously rumored to be expected to obtain approval from Apple and begin supplying iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus OLED panels this year. But according to the latest reports, Apple had to turn to Samsung again because BOE was once again eliminated during the quality control stage. Samsung is also responsible for supplying OLED panels for the higher-end iPhone 15 models together with LG.

According to ETNews, Apple's "Wanderlust" event is about to start in a few hours, and Samsung will replace BOE and be responsible for mass-producing panels for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. The specific reason why BOE was once again shut out of Apple has not been clarified in the report, but this latest incident may force the iPhone maker to start looking for alternatives or start investigating the problems that the Chinese manufacturer continues to encounter. An industry official issued the following statement regarding BOE's future.
"It is unclear whether BOE can obtain quality certification within the year, and the allocation this year is likely to be small, so it is understood that Samsung Display will be de facto responsible for the two standard models."
The report also stated that Samsung is Apple’s only supply chain partner, supplying OLED panels for all iPhone 15 models scheduled to be released later today. LG has also joined the ranks of its Korean counterparts, but its order execution volume will be much lower than Samsung's to supply LTP OOLED screens for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The report did not mention the specific order allocation ratio between the two companies, but Samsung is likely to grab most of the orders with its resources.
BOE joined the supply chain to give Apple tighter control over its profit margins, but with the company out, at least for now, Samsung will benefit greatly in the coming months.
