According to the China Communications Standards Association public account, from September 26 to 27, the China Communications Standards Association Terminal Fast Charging Technology and Standards Promotion Committee Technical Working Group (CCSA/TC626/WG1) and the Telecommunications Terminal Industry Association Green Energy Technology Group (TAF/WG10) jointly held the third meeting of 2023 in Chongqing.
The Industrial Promotion Group (CCSA/TC626/WG2) and the FCA Industrial Promotion Group jointly held the second meeting. A total of 48 experts from TC626 member units including terminal manufacturers and chip manufacturers attended the meeting.
At the third joint meeting of TC626/WG1 and TAF/WG10,The list of WG1 deputy leaders was announced, including Sun Ruinan from Huawei Terminal Co., Ltd., Liu Zhen from OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communications Co., Ltd., Zhang Yuan from Vivo Mobile Communications Co., Ltd., and Yu Lei from Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd..
At this meeting, the participants had in-depth and constructive exchanges and discussions on many issues related to fast charging. The draft of three fast charging group standards has also been further improved.Continue to promote the unification process of fast charging standards.
The problem of incompatible fast charging of mobile phone chargers has existed for a long time. Previously, various brands were incompatible with each other and the protocols were not open to each other., which seriously affects the user’s fast charging experience.
Regarding the unified fast charging protocol, during the Android 7.0 period, Google required that mobile phones using the Type-C interface must support PD fast charging formulated by the USB-IF standardization organization.
However, most manufacturers do not intend to do this. Most of the mobile phone products they launch only support 18W and 20W fast charging power, which is uncompetitive compared to their private protocols.
In December 2021,Led by the Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Huawei, vivo, Xiaomi, and OPPO, a number of terminal, chip companies and industry partners jointly completed the integrated fast charging agreement - UFCS. Solve the problem of fast charging incompatibility between devices and improve user experience.
Domestic manufacturers are obviously more concerned about this agreement. As of September this year, a total of 14 terminal products and 26 charger products have passed UFCS integrated fast charging certification..The products cover Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and other manufacturers that have formulated specifications, as well as some third-party manufacturers..
It is worth mentioning thatMost of these certified products are already on the market, not just on paper..
UFCS currently supports 40W power and will be increased to 65W in the future. Although it lags behind the power of major private protocols, the power is also much higher than the current mainstream PD protocols of 18W and 20W.
