We're still about a week away from Intel's release of its 14th-generation Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs, but the company has been mum on an official release date. According to a new report, the first batch of processors will be released on October 17th, and media promotion restrictions will be lifted on October 16th.

News about the RaptorLakeRefresh release date comes from VideoCardz. While Intel typically waits a month or so after releasing a CPU before launching new products, the publication cited unspecified sources; Raptor Lake was announced at the 2022 Innovation Conference and launched on October 20. This year’s Innovation Conference is scheduled to be held on September 19th and 20th.
It is reported that six Raptor Lake Refresh chips will be launched on October 17: Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KF, Core i7-14700K and Core i7-14700KF, Core i5-14600K and Core i5-14600KF, all 125WTDP unlocked models. The locked non-K version with TDP of 65W and lower is expected to be launched around CES2024 next year.
Most leaks and reports about Raptor Lake Refresh have been disappointing. Information leaked by MSI shows that the performance of the new processor is improved by about 3% on average compared to the previous generation, but there are exceptions, such as the i7-14700K, which is improved by about 17% on average. Among other processors, the slight power boost the Core i9-14900K received was enough to push it to the top of Geekbench and set a new record for single-core performance. Even more worryingly, 14th-generation CPUs are said to be 15% more expensive than their 13th-generation counterparts.
Intel will take the wraps off several other projects at the Innovation Conference. We'll see product roadmaps, a range of AI-related products and services, and data center chips. We'll also take a closer look at the first processor to drop the long-standing "i" prefix and use the new Intel Core Ultra brand: .
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger is certainly excited about "Meteor Lake." He expects the next generation of mobile processors to be Intel's new "Centrino moment." According to recently leaked information, the flagship 185H processor may have a maximum boost clock frequency of up to 5.1GHz, while the 165H and 155H may have peak clock frequencies of up to 5.0GHz and 4.8GHz respectively.
