Apple has officially stopped using leather in any new iPhone cases or Apple Watch bands. In the process, Apple replaced many of its leather products with a new material called FineWoven.
FineWoven has a subtle satin finish and is made from over 60% recycled materials. Apple has used FineWoven material to create new modern buckle and magnetic loop watch bands, available in a variety of colors.
Apple also plans to continue its long-term partnership with fashion giant Hermès. Gone are the leather straps, replaced by three new woven straps and a durable molded silicone strap.
In the pre-recorded live broadcast, Apple showed more than just new watch bands. It also highlighted new Apple Watch Ultra watch bands that use more recycled materials, as well as a series of new Nike watch bands with new patterns and new designs.
