According to reports, Goldman Sachs Group CEO David Solomon has given up his part-time hobby as a DJ and no longer performs at high-profile events. A spokesman for Goldman Sachs indirectly confirmed the news, saying it was due to excessive media attention. Solomon's hobby as a DJ first came into public view in 2017, when a media report recounted the 55-year-old investment bank CEO's unusual hobby.
After becoming CEO of Goldman Sachs in 2018, Solomon used his DJ role as part of his personal brand. He uses the stage name DJD-Sol and releases some remixes through his social media accounts. Until 2023, he performed six times a year, usually at high-profile events like Lollapalooza and Tomorrowland.
But the attempt quickly drew criticism. Now, as concerns grow about Solomon's work performance, he has decided to no longer perform high-profile DJ gigs, with his last gig scheduled for 2022.
According to people familiar with the matter, Solomon decided to stop high-profile performances because he did not want the media attention and was criticized by some for his hobbies distracting from his work.
A Goldman Sachs spokesperson responded to the news by saying: "Music does not distract David from his work. Media attention does."
