Sledgehammer Games has released screenshots of the multiplayer maps of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3". These maps are replicas of the maps of the 2009 game "Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2". "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" will launch with 16 remastered maps from the 2009 game "Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2". In addition to these old maps, Activision also confirmed that it will launch at least 12 original new maps (6v6), including 3 6v6 maps in the first and second seasons.

Sledgehammer Games Art Director Matt Abbott said the excitement of faithfully modernizing 16 of the groundbreaking multiplayer maps was palpable, with designers at the studio clamoring to bring every map from Modern Warfare 2 (2009) back to life in Modern Warfare III. His colleague Zach emphasized the importance of allowing players to experience these classic maps in new ways.
"We [asked]: What's good about movement in the old games? What's good about the gunplay in the old games? It's the same thing in the new games, so we try to combine those things," Zach said.
Matt simply said: "How can we make the best version of those maps that people have played? Because that's what we as fans want."
