RUNTO announced the monthly shipments of the world’s top TV ODM factories in August. Within the statistical scope, in August, the total shipment volume of the Top 10 professional TV ODM factories increased significantly by 17.1% month-on-month and 7.6% year-on-year. Since February this year, global TV OEM market shipments have increased year-on-year for seven consecutive months. Among the top 10 foundries, Foxconn shipped 430,000 units in August, continuing a sharp decline of 47.6% year-on-year.
Analysis pointed out that Foxconn’s customer structure is concentrated in Sony and Sharp. As of August, the global shipments of the two major brands have fallen sharply by double digits, especially Sony. Coupled with BOEVT’s monthly OEM orders of over 100,000 units from Sony, Foxconn’s OEM performance this year is under great pressure.
According to data from Luotu Technology, in August 2023, the retail volume of China’s TV market through online public retail channels (excluding content e-commerce companies such as Doukuai) was about 2.95 million units, a decrease of more than 20% from the same period last year. The four major foreign brands Sony, Samsung, Philips, and Sharp shipped a total of about 100,000 units in August, a year-on-year decrease of 30%, and their combined market share was less than 5%.
In terms of other foundries, MOKA, a subsidiary of TCL Group, released products that month. The shipment reached a record high of 1.48 million units, ranking first in August. In the past eight months, Maojia has won the title in seven of the past eight months, and its annual cumulative shipments have reached nearly 10 million units, a significant year-on-year increase of 33.7%.
Maojia’s shipment growth is mainly due to the excellent performance of its own brands in the global market. In the first half of this year, TCL TV global shipments were approximately 11.5 million units, a significant year-on-year increase of approximately 16%.
TPV shipped 1.14 million units in August, ranking second among professional OEMs, with a slight increase of 0.4% year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 18.8%. The shipments of its own brand Philips, which accounted for over 30% of the total internally, increased by more than 10% month-on-month; the shipments of domestic customers Hisense and Skyworth both achieved double-digit growth month-on-month.
Video Video (BOEVT), which is OEM for Xiaomi, shipped 870,000 units in August. Its ranking among professional OEMs improved by one place to fourth compared with July, with a year-on-year growth of 21.1% and a month-on-month growth of 27.4%. Among domestic customers, Xiaomi had double-digit growth month-on-month, and Hisense doubled its growth month-on-month.
