The DNT Do Not Track option is a feature supported by all browsers. When this feature is turned on, when the user sends a request to the website/server through the browser, it will automatically carry Do Not Track related data to tell the server not to track this user. However, most websites do not respect this option so whether it is enabled or not is meaningless, and sending this metadata may cause additional unnecessary tracking.
In view of this, Mozilla Firefox is currently deleting this option in the nightly build version, that is, the subsequent Firefox browser will completely delete the Do Not Track option and no longer provide it. After the update, users will find that the Do Not Track option is no longer found in the Firefox browser settings.
DNT is a feature launched by researchers in 2009. Firefox browser is also the first browser to support this feature. Eventually, Firefox browser will delete this option in the official version 135.0.
The Mozhi Foundation believes that the website does not respect the user's privacy preferences, and at the same time continuing to send do-not-track signals to the website may affect user privacy, that is, some websites or advertising tracking networks may use this signal as one of the indicators to track users.
After deletion, users can use privacy protection related functions in the Firefox browser. These functions will powerfully block various trackers of advertising networks, and their actual effect is much better than Do Not Track.
In principle, Firefox browser privacy protection related features will directly block all known ad tracker connections, that is, ad trackers cannot reach users, instead of users and browsers sending signals to ad tracking networks asking these trackers not to track users.
This is also the reason why the Firefox browser now turns on the privacy protection function by default. By default, medium protection is enabled. If the user needs it, strong protection can also be turned on. In this case, the interception effect is better, but some websites may also load abnormally. Specific users can choose according to their actual usage needs.
