Following the recent Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 Beta, CentOS Stream 10 has now reached generally available status. CentOSStream10 defines upstream RedHatEnterpriseLinux10, and minor versions of RHEL10 are created from upstream RedHatEnterpriseLinux10 and eventually become preview versions of future RHEL10 versions. CentOS Stream 10 entered preview earlier this year and is now considered GA status.
CentOS announced today that CentOS Stream10 "Coughlan" is generally available, and plans to keep it available until around 2030 to coincide with the full support phase of RHEL10.
CentOS Stream10 is powered by the new Linux 6.12 kernel, which is also this year's LTS kernel release. In addition to Linux6.12LTS, CentOSStream10 also supports Python3.12, Go1.23, Rust1.82, Valkey7.2 that replaces Redis, and the GNOME47 desktop.
CentOSStream10 also contains the GCC14 compiler, as well as OpenJDKJava21, PHP8.3, LLVM19, Qt6.7, DNF4.20 and other newly released software.
CentOSStream10 does not support X.OrgServer, Wayland is the default display stack, and XWayland is available for users who require support for legacy X11 applications.
CentOSStream10 also no longer packages Firefox, GIMP, LibreOffice, Inkscape and Thunderbird. Instead, CentOSStream10 desktop users are recommended to rely on the Flatpak software package through Flathub.

EPEL10 (ExtraPackages for Enterprise Linux) was also released today. EPEL10 enhances the packages in RHEL10 with packages from Fedora, providing a more diverse selection of packages outside the scope of the official RHEL software repositories.
