Ousted former CEO Sam Altman and former president Greg Brockman returned to the company's San Francisco headquarters on Sunday, reportedly at the invitation of OpenAI interim CEO Mira Mulati, to discuss the possibility of returning to the company behind the ChatGPT chatbot, even as he considers launching a new artificial intelligence venture.
OpenAI's board of directors fired Altman, seen by many as the poster child for generative artificial intelligence, on Friday, sending shockwaves throughout the tech industry.
On Sunday, Ultraman posted a photo of himself wearing an OpenAI visitor card on the social platform X with the text: "This is the first and last time I will wear this."
Altman's dismissal angered current and former employees of the company, who worried about how the sudden change in management would affect an upcoming $86 billion stock sale.
Brockman, the former president and co-founder of OpenAI, also arrived at the company's headquarters on Sunday. As part of a management shakeup, Brockman resigned as chairman and announced his exit from the company on Friday.
