After three consecutive price increases, Tesla’s price adjustments may continue. Recently, it was reported that Tesla will increase the price in the Chinese market again this week. In this regard, e Company reporters asked Tesla China for verification, but received no response as of press time. On the morning of November 20, a Tesla salesperson confirmed to reporters that "Model 3 and Model Y will increase prices this week due to rising costs."

Prices of all models rise for three consecutive years

"According to our internal information, this is a continuous price increase, targeting all models." On the morning of the 20th, Tesla sales staff revealed to reporters that due to relatively good sales, high pressure on the production line, and rising production costs, Tesla-related models will continue to increase prices this week.

It is worth noting that Tesla has completed three price increases in the past half month. On October 27, the price of the Model Y high-performance version was first raised by 14,000 yuan.

On November 9, the starting prices of the refreshed version of Model 3 Long Range and Model Y Long Range increased by 1,500 yuan and 2,500 yuan respectively. This price increase was "warmed up" on Tesla's sales circle of friends and was officially confirmed. Tesla China's communication content shows, "With the delivery cycle extended and prices likely to rise at any time, for consumers who are interested in Tesla, only by placing an order as early as possible can they enjoy the benefits and get their car in time for the Spring Festival holiday."

On November 14, Tesla China's official website showed that the starting prices of the Model 3 and Model Y rear-wheel drive versions have been increased. The price of the refreshed Model 3 rear-wheel drive version has increased by 1,500 yuan, and the adjusted starting price is 261,400 yuan. The price of the Model Y rear-wheel drive version has increased by 2,500 yuan, and the adjusted starting price is 266,400 yuan.

There are different opinions on the reasons for the price adjustment

After three price adjustments, all Model 3/Y models have experienced overall price increases. Prior to this, Tesla had frequently cut prices since the beginning of the year, and the prices of Model 3 and Model Y once fell to lows. Among them, the starting price of Model 3 was as low as 229,900 yuan.

Data from the Passenger Car Association shows that in the first 10 months of this year, Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory delivered a cumulative total of 771,000 vehicles, exceeding the entire year of last year and is expected to set a new annual delivery record for domestic luxury car companies. Among them, Model Y has firmly ranked first in China's passenger car sales this year, and Model 3 has ranked first in the delivery of luxury brand cars. While sales are increasing steadily, Tesla's ability to make money is not as good as expected. The financial report shows that Tesla’s gross profit margin fell to 17.9% in the third quarter of this year.

In addition, some market analysts believe that Tesla’s recent frequent price adjustments may be related to the upcoming adjustment of vehicle purchase tax next year. In June this year, the "Announcement on Continuing and Optimizing the Vehicle Purchase Tax Reduction and Reduction Policy for New Energy Vehicles" jointly issued by multiple ministries and commissions clarified that for new energy vehicles with a purchase date between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025, the tax exemption shall not exceed 30,000 yuan per vehicle.

According to Tesla’s official website, you can also enjoy full purchase tax exemption when purchasing Model Y high-performance version, Model S and Model X. Starting next year, on the basis that the above-mentioned models enjoy a purchase tax exemption of 30,000 yuan, car owners will need to pay a tax ranging from approximately 2,000 to 44,000 yuan. "With the gradual reduction of preferential policies, Tesla's modest increase in selling price may be in response to these policy changes." Some market analysts pointed out.

New Model 3 delivered in large quantities for export

On the other hand, there is also new news about the refreshed version of Tesla Model 3, which was launched in August this year. According to the "Pudong Release" public account on November 19, the new Tesla was delivered globally, and 1,200 refreshed model 3s were exported from Pudong. The refreshed Tesla model 3 will be available for pre-sale on September 1st. Many improvements such as the interior and cockpit come from Tesla’s Shanghai R&D Innovation Center. At the same time, Shanghai Lingang Super Factory, Tesla's main export center in the world, has completed production line upgrades this year in terms of producing new models and improving automation levels. By the third quarter, the factory's annual output had increased to 950,000 vehicles. At the car yard at Shanghai Nangang Wharf, a large number of new model 3 models of various colors are waiting to be shipped for export. With the support of the "auto bonded storage" business of Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone, Tesla has achieved port-side production and port-side exports. "In the early stage, small batches of new Tesla models have been exported to Asia-Pacific, Australia, Europe, North America and other places via foreign trade ro-ro ships via Shanghai Nangang Terminal." According to official news, as countries pay more attention to new models, it is expected that the subsequent export delivery volume of Tesla's refreshed model 3 will continue to grow.
