Shortly after screenshots of xAI's chatbot Grok appearing in X surfaced, X owner Elon Musk confirmed that Grok will be available to all of the company's Premium+ users sometime "next week." While Musk's claims about product delivery times don't always hold true - code development in Company X's own app shows that Grok integration work is already underway.
Yes.
Grok will be available to all XPremium+ users next week.

This week, app researcher Nima Owji shared some screenshots showing how Grok was added to X's app, noting that its URL would be twitter.com/i/grok. In one screenshot, users who are not already Premium+ subscribers are invited to upgrade to access Grok. Another screenshot shows an "AskGrok" text input box for communicating with the AI chatbot. However, these features weren't available to the public yet when he discovered them, which suggests that Grok's launch is just around the corner.
First released to select testers on November 4, Grok is Musk's answer to OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Bard, Anthropic's Claude and others, and it has the potential to gain a following as part of X's broader social platform.
Additionally, xAI, the Musk company behind Grok, promises that its chatbot will have more personality than its competitors. According to its website, it plans to answer users' questions "with a touch of wit" and is said to have "rebellious tendencies." The chatbot also plans to answer "spicy" questions rejected by other AI systems, the company noted.
But personality itself isn't what makes Grok stand out -- it also has access to real-time knowledge via the X platform, which could be an interesting component, even if its answers aren't the most accurate.
The addition could help increase signups for X's premium subscription, which has yet to perform as well as Musk expected. The owners of X rebranded TwitterBlue as
As a result, X recently announced that it will split its Premium service into three tiers: a $3-per-month Basic subscription (without removing ads), the existing $8-per-month XPremium subscription, and a $16-per-month Premium+ subscription (which removes all ads in ForYou and Followingfeeds), and launch a CreatorHub where users can get paid to post and provide subscription services to fans.
Grok joins this higher-priced tier, which may encourage other X users besides creators to sign up. The extra revenue is needed now more than ever, as
Notably, Grok's debut comes after a dramatic week for rival artificial intelligence company OpenAI, which saw its CEO Sam Altman ousted in a board revolt within days, and was joined by co-founder Greg Brockman, both of whom were announced as new hires at Microsoft.
While Grok's arrival won't make as big a splash in the boardroom as OpenAI's, Altman has taken note of Grok's arrival and even touted the chatbot's alleged comedic abilities, posting a screenshot of GPT instructing it to "become a chatbot that answers questions with crushing hipster humor" and calling it Grok. Musk responded by calling ChatGPT-4 "GPT-Snore," adding: "Humor is clearly prohibited at OpenAI, like many other topics it censors."
GPT-4? More like GPT-Snore!
Speaking of humor, GPT-4 is as ridiculous as a screen door on a submarine.
Humor is apparently banned at OpenAI, like many other topics it censors.
That's why even with a damn manual, it couldn't tell a single joke. It's like...

Musk, one of OpenAI's early co-founders, later quit the nonprofit and canceled his planned donation after Altman and the other OpenAI founders rejected an offer to give Musk control of the company. The move caused a public rift between two key executives in the artificial intelligence industry, leading Musk to later start his own artificial intelligence company, xAI, with veterans from Google DeepMind, Google Research, OpenAI, Microsoft Research and Tesla.
Musk said Grok has been trained on a knowledge base similar to ChatGPT and Meta’s Llama2, but it will leverage real-time access to X’s information. It can also search the web for the latest information on certain topics.
