Microsoft just brought its artificial intelligence chatbot Copilot to macOS. Copilot is Microsoft's artificial intelligence chatbot. Like most other chatbots, it can feed you text, generate images (generative artificial intelligence, or GenAI), help you organize or cook, find information or locate your location for you, play music, and even write code.

Until now, Mac users had to use Copilot through a browser on Microsoft's website. However, starting this Thursday, a standalone app is finally available on macOS.

As early as December 2023, Microsoft released Copilot for iPhone and iPad. Currently, Copilot uses multiple large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT-4, DALL-E3, Codex, and Microsoft's internal LLMPrometheus.

Microsoft recommends using Copilot to directly answer complex questions, turn ideas into images, or polish your articles. Of course, you can also use it as another way to search the web.

For example, you can use it at any time to find a business's opening hours, or which attractions you should visit when visiting a new city.

The Copilot app is free and can be downloaded from the AppStore. To use Copilot, you need an M1 or newer Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or newer.

Apple is venturing into artificial intelligence with its own in-house artificial intelligence, Apple Intelligence, thanks to Copilot.

It is said that Craig Federighi played with Microsoft Copilot on Christmas 2022. His experience has led him to provide his team of software engineers with the resources to pursue artificial intelligence - specifically generative artificial intelligence.
