Alibaba announced the launch of its AI flagship application - New Quark. Based on Alibaba Tongyi's leading reasoning and multi-modal large models, New Quark has been fully upgraded into a borderless "AI super box", bringing a new experience to 200 million users. Alibaba stated that in the future, the latest results of the Tongyi series of models will be integrated into Quark as soon as possible.
It is reported that New Quark will bid farewell to traditional search and upgrade to an AllinOne "AI super box" to meet various AI needs of users for work, study and life. The current mainstream AI product form in the market is Chatbot. Quark hopes to go one step further and integrate AI dialogue, in-depth thinking, in-depth search, in-depth research, and in-depth execution into a minimalist "AI super box" to meet all user needs.
After the user enters instructions in the "AI Super Box", the Quark Intelligent Center will automatically recognize the intention, plan and sort out the instructions, and mobilize various models and Agent modules to help the user complete the task. Currently, New Quark can answer questions and perform tasks in different scenarios such as AI search, AI writing, AI drawing, AIPPT, academic research, AI question search, AI health Q&A, and travel planning.
Wu Jia, Vice President of Alibaba Group and CEO of Quark, said: "This upgraded version is just a prototype of the new Quark. With the continuous iterative upgrade of future model capabilities, we hope that the Quark AI Super Box will be like Doraemon's pocket, allowing users to enter the AI world here."
At the just past earnings call, Alibaba Group CEO Wu Yongming said that in the next three years, it will increase investment in three aspects around the core of its AI strategy, including infrastructure construction for AI and cloud computing, AI basic model platforms and AI native applications, as well as AI transformation and upgrading of existing businesses. Recently, Alibaba has continued to make efforts in basic models and native applications, and has successively released Qwen2.5-VL, Qwen2.5-Max, Tongyi Wanxiang 2.1, Qianwen QWQ-32B and other open source models with world-leading performance. Quark will be the first to access the most advanced models of Alibaba’s Tongyi series, allowing users to experience the world’s leading AI capabilities immediately and without any barriers.
According to the AIGCRANK China AI application rankings in January 2025, Quark has an average daily activity of 33.69 million, ranking first in China's AI applications.
