Two 17-year-old men urinated into the bottom of a hot pot in Haidilao, which attracted attention and had a serious impact on Haidilao's business. The reporter came to the Haidilao Shanghai Bund store where the incident occurred. There were many customers dining in the store, but the overall occupancy rate was not high. In response to the impact of the "pot urination" incident on the store's customer flow, store staff said: "The impact is too great. We used to have queues outside at this point, but now only 'loyal customers' will come to eat."

A staff member responded, "Don't worry, moving-in disinfection will happen, the store will be demolished soon." According to Haidilao’s official statement, the Shanghai Bund store has replaced all hot pot pots and tableware (including chopsticks) in the early morning of March 8. When a reporter asked what to do with old pots and tableware after replacement, the staff member said: "Discarded."

In response to this matter, Haidilao's official response showed that for the 4109 customers who ate at Haidilao's Shanghai Bund store from 00:00 on February 24 to 24:00 on March 8, the meal price of the day will be fully refunded, and an additional cash compensation of 10 times the order payment will be provided.

In addition, Haidilao has filed a civil lawsuit application with the Shanghai Huangpu District Court on March 10 for the two men involved in the case, and will resolutely pursue their relevant responsibilities in accordance with the law. At the same time, Haidilao said that the trouble this incident has caused to customers is far from being fully compensated by any compensation, and it is willing to do its best to take responsibility.

After careful calculation, some netizens said bluntly: "For 4109 orders, if the average price per customer is 300, 4109×300=1232700, 10 times is 12.3 million. If the price per customer is 500, 4109×500=2054500, 10 times is 20.5 million, and the compensation is 1-20 million, which is a bit fierce."
