On Tuesday (March 25) local time, Apple announced that,The annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held from June 9 to June 13, mainly in an online format. The company stated,WWDC25 will be free and open to all developers, focusing on the latest developments in Apple software.

As part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to supporting developers, the conference will provide developers with a unique opportunity to network with Apple experts and gain insight into new tools, frameworks and features.

Susan Prescott, vice president of global developer relations, wrote in a statement: "We are extremely looking forward to another wonderful WWDC with our global developer community. We can't wait to share the latest tools and technologies to empower developers and help them continue to innovate."

Developers and students will be able to learn about the latest Apple software and technology by tuning into keynotes. Throughout the conference, they will also be able to experience WWDC25 through the Apple Developer app, the Apple Developer website, and the Apple Developer YouTube channel.

This year's conference will include video conferencing sessions and opportunities to interact with Apple engineers and designers in online labs.

As in previous years, WWDC25 will kick off with a keynote speech on the first day. At the opening keynote speech on June 9, Apple is expected to officially release new systems such as iOS19, iPadOS19, macOS16, tvOS19, watchOS12 and visionOS3.

Special offline events will be held

Although WWDC2025 will mainly be held online, in order to celebrate the opening of WWDC, Apple plans to hold a special offline event for some developers and students.

The offline event will be held on June 9 at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Invited attendees will be able to watch keynotes at Apple Park, as well as meet one-on-one with Apple experts or network in group labs, and participate in multiple special events.

Apple also said it is proud to support the next generation of developers through the Swift Student Challenge. This is one of Apple’s many programs designed to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs, programmers and designers.

This year's entrants will be notified of their entries on March 27, and winners will be eligible to apply to attend a special event at Apple Park. In addition, 50 "outstanding winners" recognized for their outstanding entries will be invited to Cupertino for a three-day experience.

Investors pay close attention

Investors are closely watching the conference because product upgrades announced during the event may help Apple attract new customers.

At present, the competition in the global smartphone market is becoming increasingly fierce. Smartphone makers such as South Korea's Samsung Electronics and China's Xiaomi are competing for a larger market share by adding artificial intelligence capabilities to their devices and investing in low-end devices.

At last year's Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple unveiled a slew of AI-enabled features, including new features like rewriting emails and consolidating cluttered inboxes.

Recently, Apple said that some artificial intelligence upgrades to its voice assistant Siri would be delayed until 2026, but offered no explanation. The company has previously said these features would launch in 2025.
