According to the latest report from 9to5Mac, Apple has further opened up the default application settings function in iOS 18.4, adding two new options: "Translation" and "Navigation".The "Translate" function is open to users around the world and supports users to replace the default application from Apple's own Translate to a third-party service (such as Google Translate).

However, the "Navigation" function is only available to EU users and supports changing Apple Maps to alternative applications such as Google Maps.

Users can configure it through "Settings" → "Apps" → "Default Apps".

As of now, US users can see 9 categories of options (including email, browser, password management, etc.), while EU users have an additional "Navigation" option, totaling 10 categories.

Apple has gradually opened up default application permissions in recent years, and this update further enhances system flexibility.

Apple has brought a lot of major upgrades to the official version of iOS 18.4 this time. For example, Apple Smart has added support for 8 new languages and 2 English regions, including Chinese. However, due to regulatory restrictions, the function has not yet been launched.

The Photos application has also undergone a major revision. It is better to use than the previous version that everyone complained about, but it is still not as good as iOS17.

In addition, 5G-A has been opened, which is much faster than traditional 5G and can be supported by iPhone 13 and above.
