At 10:23 am local time on May 1, OpenAI founder Altman issued a message to say goodbye to GPT-4:"Goodbye, GPT-4. You started a revolution. We will proudly store your weight on a special hard drive to give to some historian in the future."
According to reports, OpenAI previously announced thatStarting from April 30, 2025, GPT-4 will be retired from CHATGPT and completely replaced by GPT-4o, but GPT-4 will still be available in the API.
OpenAI said that in face-to-face assessments, GPT-4o continued to surpass GPT-4 in writing, coding, STEM and other aspects. Recent upgrades further improve GPT-4o’s command tracking, problem resolution, and conversation flow, making it the natural successor to GPT-4.
It is reported that,GPT-4 will be released in March 2023, which has been significantly improved compared to the previous generation GPT-3.5.GPT-4o is a large multi-modal model released by OpenAI for the chat robot ChatGPT. It was released on May 14, 2024, where "o" stands for "omni", which means "omnipotent".
This model enables ChatGPT to handle 50 different languages, accept a combination of text, audio, and images as input and generate any combination of text, audio, and images as output.
