Google announced that users can now generate custom video clips directly in Google Vids, an AI-powered video creation tool for Google Workspace. With Google DeepMind’s advancedVeo 2 AI model, an integrated feature that makes it easier to add unique visual elements to workplace videos without having to use separate generation tools or search for specific footage.

Veo is Google's most advanced video generation AI model, which debuted last April. Veo 2 is known for generating high-quality, photorealistic videos with a stronger grasp of real-world physics and greater camera control than other models such as OpenAI's Sora. Typically, it can produce high-resolution video clips of up to two minutes or more.
Adding custom clips is easy. In the video editor, you'll see the Generate Video icon in the right sidebar. Simply enter a description in the prompt box and click "Create" to generate a preview. When you're ready, select Insert to add the clip to your project.

However, the integration of Veo 2 in Vids needs to follow specific parameters. Video clips are currently generated at a resolution of 720p, a frame rate of 24 FPS, a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, and a maximum duration of 8 seconds per clip.
There is no additional cost to use this generation feature in Vids if you are on a qualifying plan. The feature is currently being rolled out to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains and is expected to be generally available in the next 14 days.
This feature is available to customers on most paid Google Workspace plans, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Essentials Plus, and those with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-ons.
If you're a customer on the Business Starter, Enterprise Starter, or Nonprofit plans, you'll also have access to generative AI features in Vids (such as clip generation) for a limited time (until at least May 31, 2026). Currently, video creation and editing, including clip generation, are only available on desktop web browsers. While Vids supports multiple languages, the generative AI feature currently only understands and processes English prompts.
