After months of rumors, MetaOfficially announcedPartnering with Oakley to launch a new generation of smart glasses. The smart glasses have twice the battery life of Meta Ray-Bans and are capable of shooting 3K video. The glasses are based on Oakley’s HSTN (pronounced “how-stuhn”) design and are billed as Meta’s “first product for athletes and enthusiasts.”

The limited-edition Oakley Meta HSTN model comes in gold accents, is priced at $499, and will be available for pre-order on July 11th. Meta says the rest of the series will start at $399 and will be available later this summer.
The glasses feature a front-facing camera, open speakers, and a microphone. You can use it to listen to music, take photos, and make and receive calls.
The glasses are also equipped with a Meta AI feature that allows you to ask questions on the go, such as "Hey Meta, how windy is it today?" or "Hey Meta, take a video." Additionally, you can ask Meta AI what you're seeing and have it translate languages.
Oakley Meta HSTN glasses have a battery life of up to 8 hours with normal use and up to 19 hours of standby time. Charging to 50% in 20 minutes. Additionally, the glasses come with a charging case that provides up to 48 hours of charging time on the go.
The glasses are available in six frame and lens color combinations: Warm Gray with Ruby Lenses, Black with Polar Black Lenses, Smoke Brown with Polar Deep Water Lenses, Black with Amethyst Lenses, Clear with Gray Lenses, and Black with Clear Lenses. All styles are available with prescription optical lenses for an additional fee. Meta says some of the glasses feature Oakley Prizm lens technology that allows for clear visibility in different light and weather conditions, helping users see more clearly and look their best.
Oakley Meta HSTN will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. Meta plans to launch the product in Mexico, India and the United Arab Emirates later this year.
Meta said the new glasses are the latest chapter in its multi-year partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of eyewear brands such as Oakley and Ray-Bans. According to EssilorLuxottica's fiscal 2024 financial results, Meta's Ray-Ban glasses have sold more than 2 million pairs to date.
