The high-profile KyoAni arson trial has entered its final stage. The criminal, Shinji Aoba, will be finally sentenced on December 7. The recent trial has entered a fever pitch, and the defense's "indifference" and certain "defense opinions" have triggered public anger.

·The suspect in the KyoAni incident, Shinji Aoba, deliberately set fire at the Kyoto Animation headquarters in July 2019, resulting in the death of 36 people and 32 minor or serious injuries, including himself. After more than 4 years of treatment, Shinji Aoba officially entered the trial stage in September this year.

·In order to reduce the suspect's guilt, the defense not only used the strongest argument that "the suspect has mental problems", but also made remarks about the fire protection problem of the building where the crime occurred, which caused great indignation among the families of the victims and the public.

The prosecution listed evidence to prove that the building complied with fire regulations. The local fire chief witness invited to the scene also testified that there was no experience to prove that the current fire regulations could deal with "intentional gasoline pouring and arson."

·In addition, some of the families of the victims who were allowed to participate in the trial were extremely dissatisfied with the defense lawyers at the scene, saying that they were too indifferent and contemptuous of the victims. This trial can be called the strongest example of the conflict between law and human relations.
