The trailer details a number of updates, including real-time events, remasters of Rivals and Champs, repeatable player evolutions (EVOs), and highlights the new "Competitive Gameplay."

The trailer describes competitions such as "Gauntlets" and "League Tournaments" as "an exciting expansion of FUT's competitive structure", aiming to provide players with more diverse online competitive options and ways to obtain rewards. As part of the system overhaul, the original Qualifiers have been removed from Rivals Mode and Championship Mode, while a new secondary league has been added to the Weekend League.
The game introduces a new tournament system that allows players to continuously participate in high-stakes matches. The winner advances and the loser returns to the lobby. The system features a new matchmaking mechanism that ensures players will only encounter opponents close to their current tournament stage position. The tournament provides unique rewards for this mode and sets up multiple reward tiers to encourage players to quickly enter a new round of competition after losing.
At the heart of these updates is the new Competitive Game Mode. EA stated that this mode fully incorporates player feedback on the previous game and will become the only way to conduct FUT matches online. It is designed to provide a fast, responsive gaming experience while minimizing the impact of randomness caused by player quirks.
"EA Sports FC 26" is scheduled to be officially released on September 26, 2025. The landing platforms include PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
