A U.S. official told the Financial Times that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, which is responsible for export controls, has begun issuing export licenses for H20 chips. Huang Jen-Hsun visited the White House on Wednesday and met with Trump again. Two days later, the U.S. Commerce Department began issuing licenses, according to people familiar with the matter.People familiar with the matter said the U.S. government’s decision to approve the issuance of export licenses was made after Huang Jen-Hsun and Trump met in the Oval Office.
As of press time, Nvidia and the U.S. Department of Commerce declined to comment.
