After a bumpy weekend due to an EXT4 data corruption bug, Linux version 6.6.6 has been released. This version number 666 upgrade has only one change to solve another headache: Wi-Fi performance degradation.
Linux 6.6.6 has been released. Compared with Linux 6.6.5 released a few days ago, its only change is to restore the "wifi:cfg80211:fixCQMfornon-rangeuse" patch. The patch ultimately resulted in a regression in Linux wireless support, with the IWD wireless daemon deadlocking on shutdown and related issues with the userspace network manager.
This problem occurs on Linux 6.6 because only the previously mentioned patch was backported here, and a key element in the Linux 6.7 Git kernel is missing, where this problem does not occur. Therefore, the best solution for now is to abandon the patch.
Therefore, Linux 6.6.6 comes as a "666" kernel to help those users who have WiFi problems. Linux6.1.67 was also released today, but it also only has this change.
