123 Cloud Disk recently announced major policy changes. This change will seriously affect the excellent experience of 123 Cloud Disk. The two most important changes are that the monthly free traffic for free users is reduced from 30GB to 10GB. At the same time, download services that do not require login are no longer provided, that is, all users must log in to download files.
Regarding this policy adjustment, 123 Cloud Disk stated that it was mainly facing operational challenges, especially as traffic and bandwidth costs continued to rise. Some free users registered accounts in batches through technical means or concentrated use of rule loopholes, causing serious congestion and abuse of server resources, posing a threat to platform operations.
Main change one: Free user traffic adjustment
1. The free withdrawal traffic of all clients is adjusted from 1GB per day to 10GB per month, that is, reduced from 30GB to 10GB;
2. If you use the PC client or the latest version of 123 Cloud Disk mobile client to download files, you can get a discount of half the size, that is, 10GB + 10GB traffic;
3. After exceeding the free quota, users need to purchase and withdraw traffic at a price of 0.05 yuan per GB. If it is less than 10GB, it will be billed as 10GB (that is, at least 0.5 yuan per time);
Main change 2: Cancel login-free downloads
Originally, 123 Cloud Disk did not require logging in to download files smaller than 100MB. After this update, guest users’ rights to download files smaller than 100MB without logging in have been terminated. That is, all users must register and log in to a 123 Cloud Disk account before they can download files.
But in fact, you can download without logging in. If the user is unwilling to register an account and download, he or she needs to pay a fee of 0.1 yuan per GB before downloading, or the user chooses to register and log in and use free traffic to download. It is not clear whether the 0.1 yuan per GB is calculated as less than 10GB as 10GB. If this policy is also followed, the user also needs to pay at least 0.5 yuan each time.
123 Yunpan said that this policy is mainly to block the malicious use of resources caused by batch crawling or high-frequency downloading of crawler software. Of course, this policy can also crack down on batch registration accounts to bypass the restrictions on paid traffic downloads.
Main change three: Audio and video online playback is included in the monthly withdrawal traffic
From now on, when users play online audio and video files stored in 123 cloud disks, the extraction traffic will be calculated based on the file volume, which will be included in the free 10GB monthly traffic. If the user watches 4K high-definition videos, the traffic may be exhausted quickly. After the free traffic is exceeded, the user will need to pay additional fees.
Main change four: The sharing traffic package mechanism is still effective
If the file sharer has purchased and enabled the sharing data package function, the free data will still not be used when other people download the corresponding files, that is, this part of the cost needs to be borne by the file sharer.
