OpenAI has signed a definitive agreement to acquire startup Neptune. Neptune mainly develops monitoring and debugging tools for artificial intelligence companies to use during model training. Neptune worked with OpenAI to develop a metrics dashboard to support teams developing underlying models. Neptune CEO Piotr Niedźwiedź said in a blog post that the two companies would "collaborate even more closely" after the acquisition.

Nezvijec revealed that Neptune will gradually cease its external services in the next few months. At present, the specific terms of the acquisition have not been made public.
Jakub Pachocki, chief scientist of OpenAI, said in a statement: "Neptune has created a fast and accurate system that can help researchers analyze complex training processes. We plan to further cooperate with them to deeply integrate their tools into our training system to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the model's learning process."
OpenAI has acquired several companies this year.
According to Neptune’s official website, the company has raised more than $18 million in funding from investors such as Almas Capital and TDJ Pitango Ventures. Currently, the Neptune-OpenAI deal is still subject to customary closing conditions to be completed.
"I am deeply grateful to our customers, investors, co-founders, and colleagues who have made this journey possible," Niezwijec said. "It has been an amazing journey, but I believe it is just the beginning."
