On December 5, according to Bloomberg, Apple’s management has once again experienced personnel changes. The company has hired Meta Chief Legal Officer Jennifer Newstead as its general counsel. Apple said in a statement on Thursday,Newsted will take over the responsibilities of current general counsel Kate Adams (Kate Adams) and officially take up the new position as senior vice president on March 1 next year.

Apple's recruitment of Newstead is a rare move by the company to poach Meta. Newsted, a former adviser to the U.S. State Department, joined Meta (then known as Facebook) in 2019. The executive just scored a major legal victory for Meta, successfully dismissing the Federal Trade Commission's accusation that it violated antitrust laws. The core of the case revolves around Meta's acquisition of photo-sharing app Instagram and instant messaging service WhatsApp.

In a resignation memo to Meta employees, Newsted said working at Apple was a unique opportunity to "continue to shape legal and policy issues on a global scale."

Meta often poaches people from Apple. Just on Thursday, Apple design executive Alan Dye announced his departure from Meta, where he will assist the company in developing hardware devices.

With Jackson's departure,Government affairs responsibilities will be transferred to Newstead. The environmental and social affairs team will report to chief operating officer Sabih Khan.

In a statement on Thursday, Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Jackson, saying she had helped Apple reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by more than 60% over the past decade.
