Sony recently launched a new model of the PS5 DualSense controller, and battery life seems to be one of its key optimization issues. This new DualSense controller does not come with a second microphone, nor does it have the rumored removable battery. Now, a console modification expert and repairman said that the battery life of the new DualSense is very impressive.
The new PS5 DualSense controller has improved battery life, but joystick drift is still a persistent problem
The X platform modification expert/technician whose online name is Modyfikator89 tested the CFI-ZCT2W series DualSense controller for more than 15 hours. During this period, he fully turned on tactile feedback, adaptive triggers, speakers, microphones and other functions in games such as "Space Robot Wireless Controller User Guide" and "Fortnite".
What are the test results? The battery life of the new controller has been significantly improved, and its performance "crushed" the previous generation models including DualSense Edge. As for how Sony achieved this improvement, Modyfikator89 disassembled the controller, showing off the many internal changes from the BDM-010 to the BDM-060 - changes that apparently also make the new controller run cooler.
Although this is good news, joystick drift is still a big pain point for PS5 players, and it still has repeated joystick drift issues.
Hopefully Sony will solve this problem next.
