Hideo Kojima's own studio founded after quitting Konami celebrates its 8th anniversary. On Twitter, the famous game producer looked back on eight years of experience and shared some advice he received from famous director Guillermo del Toro.
During his time at Konami, Kojima collaborated with Del Toro to produce the famous "Silent Hill" reboot trailer game "P.T.", but Konami canceled this extremely ambitious horror game, and the disagreement with Kojima led him to leave the company and eventually establish his own studio.
In a tweet, he recalled: "Eight years have passed since we founded Kojima Studio. At that time, we had no development tools, no game engines, and no office. All we had was a notebook with a project draft and LUDENS (Kojima Studio logo)."
Kojima shared the advice given to him by Del Toro, who allegedly told him that he should "as soon as possible create an innovative and unique AAA game that fans are looking forward to!" This is what the team achieved with Death Stranding. It took only a "short" three years to develop.
According to him, the studio is currently in its second phase, which means the team is working on expanding Death Stranding into a "series" with sequels and the newly announced A24 adaptation. The just-announced horror game OD, a collaboration with Xbox and fellow director Jordan Peele, will also be part of the studio's second phase of plans.
Kojima concluded: "Although the epidemic disaster delayed our plans, we have launched the second booster rocket, completed the separation, and continued to fly into unknown territories while adjusting the trajectory to the new destination. Thank you for your continued support."
