On January 1, Unit 2 of Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant, the world's largest "Hualong One" nuclear power base, was officially put into commercial operation, marking the completion and commissioning of the first phase of the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant.At 00:07 in the morning that day, Unit 2 of Zhangzhou Nuclear Power's "Hualong One" successfully passed the 168-hour continuous operation test at full power and officially entered commercial operation.
Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Base plans to build six "Hualong One" units. With two units in the first phase of the project fully put into operation, the base can provide about 20 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity every year, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 16 million tons.
"Hualong One" is known as "the most important weapon of the country". It is my country's third-generation nuclear power technology with complete independent intellectual property rights. It has 177 sets of fuel assembly cores as its main technical features. It innovatively adopts "active and passive" combined safety systems and double-layer containment technologies. It meets the world's highest safety requirements and the latest technical standards. It has become the third-generation nuclear power technology with the largest number of operating and approved units under construction at home and abroad.
Zhangzhou Nuclear Power is the starting point for the batch construction of "Hualong One" and is currently the largest "Hualong One" nuclear power base in the world. It plans to build a total of 6 "Hualong One" nuclear power units, which are expected to generate 60 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity every year after they are all put into operation.
Up to now, Units 1 and 2 have been put into operation, Units 3 and 4 are in the civil construction and installation stage, and Units 5 and 6 are solidly advancing the preliminary work.
