According to reports, despite recent rumors about the upcoming release of the new MacBook Pro, well-known tipster Mark Gurman has not yet confirmed that these models will be launched in the "next few days." He only said that the new MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Studio equipped with M5 chips are expected to be launched in early 2026. Currently, the M5 chip only appears in the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, and Apple is expected to complete the entire Mac product line with a series of new products in the first half of 2026.

Gurman said in Bloomberg's "Power On" column that Apple is preparing to launch a number of new Mac products equipped with M5 series chips in early 2026, covering multiple desktop and notebook models. Among them, the MacBook Pro series is believed to be undergoing a major product line reshape later this year, including a new design with an OLED touch screen, but this change is more likely to be implemented by the end of 2026. Prior to this, the more "recent" updates will mainly be reflected in the specification upgrades of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The new machines will be equipped with new generation chips such as M5, M5 Pro and M5 Max. At the same time, there may also be a low-priced MacBook using iPhone-level chips and positioned as a more entry-level model.
In addition to notebooks, Apple’s plans for desktop Macs are also gradually emerging. The report pointed out that the 2025 product plan includes updates to the Mac mini and Mac Studio. These products are also expected to be "core swapped": the Mac mini may get M5 and M5 Pro configuration options, while the Mac Studio will at least be equipped with the M5 Max chip. As for the arrangement of the higher-end Ultra level, it is still unclear. At the same time, Apple Studio Display is also on the updated list, and rumors suggest that Apple is considering two new displays: one is based on the existing 27-inch 5K and uses MiniLED backlight to replace traditional LEDs, and the other may be a higher-end model up to 32 inches with a resolution of 6K or 7K.
While the current discussion is focused on the M5 chip, Gurman believes that the M6 may arrive sooner than outside expectations. He pointed out that the release of M3 to M4 was only about five months apart, indicating that Apple is not conservative in its iteration cycle of Apple Silicon, and therefore does not rule out the possibility of rapidly advancing a new generation of chips in certain product lines. However, he also emphasized that the M6 will not be used in the upcoming round of notebook updates, but is more of a signal for Apple to maintain a high pace of updates in the next few years.
In terms of the accuracy of the news, Gurman’s news a few days before Apple’s new product release is generally regarded as more credible, so the statement about “Mac product updates in early 2026” is generally taken seriously by the industry. He is also cautious about the market statement that "the new MacBook Pro will be released within a few days" and believes that a more realistic timetable is still around the beginning of 2026.
