Apple today officially pushed iOS 26.3 and iPadOS 26.3 updates to users. This is the latest minor version update of the iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 systems released in September last year, about two months after the release of the 26.2 series. Users can upgrade to the new version online through "Settings > General > Software Update" on supported iPhone and iPad devices.
Apple's official update description only mentioned "bug fixes and security updates" and other general expressions, but actual testing found that this time it still contains several new features that have not been highlighted.

The most notable of these is the addition of official tools for migrating from Apple devices to Android devices. Users can directly initiate data migration during the initial setup process of a new device, without the need to download additional stand-alone applications provided by Apple or Google. The migration process supports the transfer of multiple types of personal data such as photos, messages, notes, apps, passwords, phone numbers, etc., significantly simplifying the steps of migrating from iOS to other platforms. Considering that this feature may reduce users' dependence on a single operating system, Apple did not highlight this change in its external publicity. Prior to this, although users could also complete similar migrations, the process was more cumbersome.
This cross-platform migration tool is closely related to the regulatory requirements of the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA). The European Union has previously publicly "claimed credit" and regarded this feature as one of the examples of the benefits that DMA brings to users and developers. Regulations require large-scale platform services to achieve interoperability to a certain extent to avoid locking users into a single system. It is reported that Apple and Google launched related functions in this context. It’s worth noting that the two companies ultimately chose to deploy this feature globally, rather than just opening it up to the EU market.
In terms of network and privacy, iOS 26.3 introduces a new setting option to "limit operator location tracking", but it is currently only available on a few operator networks around the world. In the United States, only Boost Mobile currently supports this feature; in the UK, EE and BT, in Germany, Telekom, and in Thailand, AIS and True. The feature is only available on devices equipped with C1 or C1X baseband chips, which means its coverage will be relatively limited initially. Through this setting, related devices are expected to impose more restrictions on the collection of precise positioning data on the operator side, thus improving user privacy protection to a certain extent.
Driven by the DMA, Apple is also introducing a number of system-level changes for third-party wearable devices during the iOS 26.3 testing process that are only for the European market. According to the European Commission, in the future, third-party devices including headphones and smart watches will be able to use some system functions that were originally limited to AirPods and Apple Watch. For example, third-party devices can use "proximity pairing" to achieve a one-click pop-up pairing experience similar to AirPods. Simply bring the accessory close to your iPhone or iPad to complete the connection. In addition, third-party smartwatches can also receive richer notification content from iPhone and support viewing and interaction on the watch side. Apple allows notifications to be forwarded to a connected device, so if a user turns on notification forwarding for a third-party watch, the corresponding push notifications on the Apple Watch will be automatically disabled.
It should be pointed out that although some of the above wearable-related functions appeared in the iOS 26.3 beta version, they do not rule out the possibility of being temporarily removed in the official version and postponed to be launched again in subsequent versions. From the perspective of the entire testing cycle, the focus of this update is mainly on bug fixes, stability improvements, and regional function adjustments that comply with EU regulatory requirements. There are not many obvious new features for all users. It is widely expected that Apple will add more new features and improvements for ordinary users in the next version of iOS 26.4, and the first beta version of iOS 26.4 is expected to be launched for developers within this month.
