According to news on the morning of March 19, Bubble Mart and Sony Pictures jointly announced the latest progress of the LABUBU movie. The two parties will develop a live-action animated film around the classic IP image THE MONSTERS (LABUBU) of Bubble Mart.

The film project will be directed and produced by Paul King, who has directed the "Paddington" series and the box office hit "Wonka". THE MONSTERS artist Long Jia Sheng will be deeply involved in the creation of the film. In addition, Paul King will join hands with Steven Levinson to serve as the screenwriter of the film.

It is reported that this news was jointly announced by Long Jiasheng and Paul King at the Paris stop of THE MONSTERS 10th anniversary global tour. The film is currently in the early stages of development and plans to use a combination of live action and CGI to bring the fantasy world of LABUBU to the big screen. Long Ka-sheng will serve as the film's executive producer. In addition to Paul King, the film's producers will also include Michael Schaeffer, who participated in the production of "The Martian", and She Wenxin, who participated in the production of "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" and "The Wishing Dragon." Brittany Morris will executive produce on behalf of Sony Pictures.

Lung Ka-sing was born in Hong Kong, China, and grew up in the Netherlands. In 2015, inspired by Nordic mythology, he successively created the "Elven Trilogy" picture books such as "The Mysterious Buka", "Bodo and the Maiden" and "Requiem for Milo", gradually shaping the elves of THE MONSTERS - including the LABUBUs with nine teeth and upright pointed ears. In April 2019, Bubble Mart and Long Jiasheng launched the first set of trendy figurines "THE MONSTERS Forest Concert Series", which brought LABUBU into the public eye.

Director Paul King has been nominated for the British Academy Film Awards many times, including "Paddington" (2015), which was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, and "Paddington 2" (2018), which was nominated for Best British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay. His latest masterpiece "Wonka" (2024) has exceeded US$635 million at the global box office, and was once again nominated for the British Academy Film Award for Outstanding British Film. Steven Levinson is an award-winning screenwriter and playwright. His representative works include the musical film "For Evan Hansen" and "Countdown", as well as the Writers Guild of America Award-winning drama "Fossey and Worden".
