According to foreign media reports,Volkswagen is planning to stop production of the ID.3 at its Transparent plant in Dresden, Germany. However, the specific production suspension time has not yet been announced. The cost of living for European consumers has skyrocketed due to rising inflation and interest rates, which has had a dramatic impact on electric vehicle sales.
Not only that,Volkswagen also faces fierce competition from Tesla and Chinese new energy brands. In order to further reduce costs and increase the return rate of the Volkswagen Group, Volkswagen will close its transparent factory in Dresden, Germany.
After the closure of the plant, it is expected to save Volkswagen 20 million euros in expenses.
It is reported that the transparent factory in Dresden, Germany, opened in 2002 and initially produced the high-end Volkswagen Phaeton sedan.
In 2017, the factory began producing electric vehicles, starting with the Volkswagen e-Golf. At the end of 2020, the factory stopped producing the e-Golf and began producing its replacement, the ID.3, in 2021. In 2022, the factory produced a total of 6,500 ID.3 electric vehicles.
but,Volkswagen ID.3 will not completely stop production. Starting this fall, ID.3 will also start production at the Wolfsburg factory. Although the initial production quantity is not large, its price is likely to be reduced to a certain extent.
