On May 15, according to Bloomberg,Elon Musk’s xAI has launched the company’s first AI programming agent, called Grok Build.Trying to catch up with Anthropic's Claude's ability to simplify the software development process.

This AI model is still in the early testing stage.Only available to paying subscribers,It’s the startup’s first foray into professional programming.According to an article on the xAI official website, the agent can complete complex programming tasks according to user instructions.

Musk and xAI are catching up with other AI companies in the field of programming.Programming is a lucrative market in AI, and Musk admits that his company has fallen behind in this area.Michael Nicolls, president of xAI and a Starlink executive, has urged company employees to benchmark Claude's performance on various tasks, calling this a "near-term goal" for the company.

Last month, xAI signed a cooperation agreement with AI company Cursor. The two parties will cooperate in programming and computing resources. Cursor engineers have begun working with the startup in recent weeks, according to people familiar with the matter. However, several other key engineers from xAI’s Palo Alto office have recently left, including Mistral AI founder Devendra Chaplot, who joined the company in March, and Beibin Li, head of xAI’s post-training team.
