Ahead of its expected official release tomorrow, Sony's upcoming 10th anniversary edition 1000X series of headphones have been leaked online through multiple renderings. The leak shows that the new headphones, dubbed "1000X The ColleXion Edition," are significantly different from the existing WH-1000XM6 series in appearance and configuration, including thicker leather headband padding and ear cups that are described as "more generously sized."

The existence of this commemorative edition headset has been hinted at on the relevant page of Sony's official website. The name "ColleXion" and the model "WH-1000XX" that briefly appeared at that time were interpreted by the outside world as the 1000X series 10th anniversary special model, but there were no accompanying product pictures at the time. The renderings released by OnLeaks and the website HotEUDeals not only fully display the appearance of the headset body and accessories, but also further confirm the rumored May 19 release plan and price information. This ColleXion version is said to be priced at $649 in the US, which is $200 more than the launch price of the WH-1000XM6.

From the appearance design point of view, ColleXion will be available in black and white colors, and will enhance the “high-end feel” in terms of materials and details. The shaft connecting the head beam and the headphone unit uses a metal-textured bracket that matches the color of the fuselage. The physical buttons on the ear cups are more prominent, making it easier to blindly press and touch. The microphone opening has also been changed from the mesh opening common in existing products to a larger, round hole design that more directly penetrates the earmuff shell, making it more visually recognizable. However, judging from the leaked pictures, it is still difficult to determine whether these buttons are made of metal or metallic-looking plastic.

The rendering also shows the carrying case of the new headset, which is more similar to a handbag in shape and more fashionable as an accessory than a traditional hard-shell headphone bag. In addition, the exposed marketing presentation materials also contain some key specification information: with active noise reduction (ANC) turned on, the official nominal battery life can reach 24 hours, and with ANC turned off, the battery life can be increased to 32 hours. Considering that most leaks currently come from unofficial channels, some details still need to be further confirmed by Sony when it is officially announced on May 19.
