A useful hidden feature of Nintendo Switch 2 was recently discovered by the player community: the complete game data of the Game-Key Card can be transferred from one console to another through a local wireless connection, without the need for an Internet connection. This discovery redefines the sharing potential of Game-Key Cards.

According to actual measurements by foreign media GVG, the data transmission of Game-Key CardUtilizes the original "update software data through local users" function of the Switch2 system. The specific operation process is as follows:
1. On the console where the game has been installed, enter the game options menu
2. Select "Update via local user"
3. Establish a local connection with the target host
4. The system will automatically transfer the complete game body and patch data to another host.
The entire process does not require an Internet connection, nor does it involve saving data, Nintendo Switch Online family accounts, virtual game card sharing or GameShare functions. This is undoubtedly a very practical feature for players who want to lend their game cards to friends but don’t want them to waste data or time downloading.

It is worth noting that Nintendo officials never mentioned this feature in the description of the Game-Key Card. Previously, the decision to use the "Game-Key Card" format for Nintendo Switch2 game cards has caused controversy - the boxed game only comes with a redemption code instead of a physical cartridge, which has been criticized by some players as "contrary to the original intention of collecting and sharing the physical version."
Now the exposure of this hidden function responds to players' concerns to a certain extent: through local transmission, Game-Key Card games can also achieve a "lend to a friend" experience similar to traditional cassettes, and the recipient does not need to redeem a code or account binding, and can share data with only physical contact.
However, this feature currently has some limitations:
1. After data transmission,The recipient still needs to have a valid game redemption code or digital license to launch the game. In other words, local transfer only solves the problem of "installation data" and does not involve the transfer of "play authorization".
2. This function cannot be used to share trial concerts, free games, or cloud save data of Nintendo Switch Online.

Nonetheless, this discovery still greatly lowers the sharing threshold for Game-Key Card users, especially in scenarios with poor network conditions or limited traffic. Nintendo has yet to officially explain this feature.
