According to the latest revelations from well-known technology reporter Mark Gurman,Apple is currently reshaping its roadmap for the release of its first smart glasses product. The company has postponed the target release time of the product from the original plan of early 2027. The latest plan is to officially unveil it at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2027, and is expected to be fully launched on the market before the end of the same year.

This adjustment in the release pace not only buys valuable time for the fine polishing of the hardware and software itself, but the core reason is that Apple hopes to use this to deepen the privacy protection design and promotion strategy of the product.

In recent years, the popularity of smart glasses represented by Meta on the market has frequently caused public concern about "unauthorized candid photos" and "invasion of privacy." Some products have even been at the forefront of public opinion. For Apple, which has always regarded "user privacy protection" as its core brand moat and marketing proposition, how to avoid this dilemma is particularly critical.

The report pointed out that in order to eliminate consumers' worries, Apple will vigorously promote a series of privacy-friendly designs on its smart glasses. This includes strengthening the data processing capabilities of local devices to avoid uploading sensitive data to the cloud; and clearly abandoning the use of facial recognition technology. In addition, Apple also plans to stick to its principles and make it clear that it will not use users’ recording and image data to train AI models, and will never follow the example of some peers in handing over user-shot video footage to third-party outsourcers for manual review. Through this series of initiatives, Apple is trying to redefine the industry's data security and privacy standards while ushering in a new era of smart wearable devices.
