"AI synthesis" technology has now penetrated into our online life. Technology is inherently innocent, but in the hands of some people with ulterior motives, it has become an accomplice to new types of crimes. In March this year, a piece of news attracted the attention of netizens. A female college student’s daily life photos were actually used using the “AI one-click undressing” technology and were posted on unscrupulous websites.
Ordinary photos of daily life turned into indecent photos
Post bad websites
party:A netizen told me that my photo was posted on a porn website, and the AI took off my clothes with just one click, and it turned out to be a naked photo. Very disgusting, very disgusting!
Under the guise of technical exchange, pay a fee to join the group and receive tutorials
A photo of daily life was stripped naked with one click. This incident not only plunged the victim into a huge panic, but also made countless netizens feel scared: Where did these "AI stripping" software come from?

The reporter tried searching for "one-click undressing" on some social platforms and found many detailed graphic or video tutorials. The titles are very tempting, such as "One-click dressing and undressing", "How to quickly remove beautiful women's clothes", etc. In the comment areas of these posts, many netizens left messages seeking resources, and some bloggers spread this type of technology through direct sharing, invitations to groups, etc.

There are also some criminals who have set up groups on overseas websites, using the guise of "AI painting" and "technical exchange and learning" as bait to recruit "students" by paying to join the group. Once netizens pay a fee to join the group, they can receive a detailed step-by-step tutorial on "one-click undressing". Recently, the People's Procuratorate of Haidian District, Beijing disclosed such a case.

Li Tao, prosecutor of the People’s Procuratorate of Haidian District, Beijing, introduced,The first group already had 27,000 people at that time, and there were thousands of people in the so-called premium membership group., the price of software tools sold has also skyrocketed, from more than 60 yuan in 2023 to 168 yuan in 2025.
According to prosecutors, the suspects set up several groups and sold "AI one-click undressing" software and supporting tutorials in the groups to make illegal profits. For the convenience of others,It also comes with teaching examples and prompt word documents, which are equivalent to making the operation foolproof.Users do not need to study additionally after downloading. They can open the software and operate it directly, which lowers the threshold for use.
Priced at 168 yuan, thousands of group members paid to buy it

For 168 yuan, you can buy this so-called "AI undressing" software and learn how to operate it. Prosecutors combed through the evidence and found that among the groups of suspects,Thousands of group members paid to purchase. After they use the software, they will also communicate and share their experiences in the group.
In June 2025, the police targeted Zhang and captured him. After investigation,From August 2023, the defendant Zhang wasOverseas social platformsSet up and manage groups on the Internet, and publish relevant information about selling AI stripping software and tutorials in the group, making a profit of more than 100,000 yuan.
What crimes do software developers commit?
What kind of punishment do you face?
Thousands of people have purchased such AI stripping software and tutorials. What will be the consequences? How did Zhang develop this technology? What kind of punishment will he face for such behavior?
In fact, Zhang is not the original developer of this software. What he did was,Use ready-made AI software to conduct model training through specific keywords, and package and sell the formed AI undressing module.

Li Tao, Prosecutor of the People’s Procuratorate of Haidian District, Beijing:At that time, an overseas company released a picture-generating artificial intelligence AI, which was open source and could be used and called by everyone. It can generate pictures based on the input prompt words, or modify the pictures based on the prompt words after uploading the pictures. Defendant Zhang discovered that such a function could actually be used to generate pornographic images.
So, what kind of technology is "AI undressing"?
The prosecutor introduced,The so-called stripping tool does not really take off clothes, but a technique of forging and repainting. In fact, the algorithm regenerates and depicts the data of specific parts of the character, and adjusts the parameters to generate nude images with different effects. Therefore, such pictures are actually fake pictures.

Using this one-click undressing tool, the process of generating a nude photo is also very fast.It only takes a few seconds to a few minutes to batch generate a large number of pornographic images. And such convenience has given rise to a downstream black industry chain. After someone bought the AI undressing tool, they began to take orders for one-click undressing, processing it for a few dollars a piece, and making a profit.

1.5 yuan for a "undressed" picture
In June 2024, "Rule of Law Online" reported a similar case. Bai Moumou, a technician at an Internet company in Beijing, used in-depth manufacturing technology AI software to create nude pictures of a specific majority of women that contained facial information provided by others and sold them for profit.
Prosecutor Guo Shuzheng of the People’s Procuratorate of Haidian District, Beijing:He sells a picture for 1.5 yuan, which quickly meets the needs of relevant people. At this time, many people browse Bai's posts on overseas social networking sites. According to statistics, there are about 30,000 people who have viewed his advertisements. He has sold relevant pictures to 351 people on QQ, with the number of pictures reaching nearly 7,000.
Produced thousands of undressed pictures and earned nearly RMB 10,000
In just a few months, Bai Moumou produced thousands of pictures of people taking off their clothes and earned nearly 10,000 yuan.

Prosecutor Guo Shuzheng of the People’s Procuratorate of Haidian District, Beijing:There are pictures of Bai Moumou being asked to deal with students, teachers, and female colleagues. According to our investigation, during this process, Bai Moumou actually knew that someone might use these pictures to commit illegal and criminal acts, such as extortion; or continue to spread them, causing damage to the victim's reputation; or commit other worse criminal acts.
Forming a black industry chain
Clear division of labor at all levels
In this black industry chain:
Upstream trains large models to transform "AI undressing" modules and tools;
Midstream uses these tools to generate fake pornographic images in batches and accept one-click undressing orders;
Downstream, these fake pornographic images are used as "weapons" to carry out extortion, malicious slander, and precise property fraud and reputation infringement against victims.
A subway photo was taken off with one click and sparked rumors
In March 2023, an online blogger in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province posted an ordinary subway photo on a social platform. After being "undressed" by criminals through AI software with one click, the fake photo of a naked body was generated and spread throughout the Internet, and even spawned various unsavory rumors.

AI synthesized indecent photos, 280 blackmail letters intercepted
In March this year, a criminal gang in Nanyang, Henan Province put fake photos synthesized by AI into envelopes in batches and sent them to bank staff across the country via registered mail to extort "hush money." With the cooperation of the postal department, the police successfully intercepted 280 extortion letters and captured the criminal gang hiding behind AI.

Whether they are users who abuse technology, suppliers of peddling tools, or downstream criminals who use fake pictures to carry out extortion, they will all be punished by law. In 2024, Bai Moumou was sentenced to three years in prison for making and selling obscene materials for profit. On May 19 this year, the People’s Court of Haidian District, Beijing issued a verdict.Zhang was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and fined 20,000 yuan for the crime of illegal use of information networks.
Although the case has been decided, the thinking it left us is far from over. Prosecutors pointed out that in the AI era, the fields of text, sound, pictures, and videos are quietly evolving into new "battlefields" for cybercrime.

Technology is inherently neutral. It can provide convenience for our work and life, but it can also be used by people with intentions and become a tool for crime. Achieving technology for good requires both developers to keep ethical red lines and users to establish a solid legal bottom line.
Li Tao, Prosecutor of the People’s Procuratorate of Haidian District, Beijing:Relevant management departments in my country have issued the "Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services", which actually stipulates clear obligations regarding the provision, production, and research and development of AI tools, and everyone must strictly abide by them. For ordinary users, they must not do illegal or criminal things when using AI tools, otherwise when the time comesIt is definitely not possible to get away with saying "technological neutrality".
For developers and platforms, a "safety lock" must be added to the source of technology in order to maintain the bottom line of "technology for good".
